Let me also say couple of words on what happened in UNGA.
1. I am not sure that we won this struggle, but anyway now we have a good instrument for our work. I mean the last recorded vote on L.32 in the Third Committee.
2. It is very significantly and could have a good "propagandistic" sense for our abolitionist struggle, that in this vote United States was the only democratic state (apart of Japan and Southern Korea, which have very special traditions of relationship between personality and state/society) voting against: and have a look, with whom together! With bandit regimes as Sudan, with Islamic countries and with "piratical" islands of Caribbean Sea.
3. Among the CIS countries (let me say also about "my area") we got 4 states voting strongly till the end together with Italy. They are: Georgia (what is absolutely normal and could be prognosed), Armenia (what looks just a little strange, but could also be more or less prognosed), and two "Islamic" (but not Islamic) countries of Central Asia - Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan! While for Kyrgyzstan it is less strange (in generally, it is an almost democratic state, it's president Mr. Akaev did study in England, speaks many European languages and has a strong reputation of a democrat in comparison other CIS leaders) and very much pleasant (we contacted bilaterally with Roza Otunbaeva, its foreign minister) - for Uzbekistan it is absolutely surprising: this country is described in the mass media as absolutely "evil empire" and iron dictatorship of Mr. Islam Karimov...
I think we must take in consideration this countries in our future abolitionist work on the "CIS front". I suppose, that probably just know we must send letters to its foreign ministers (and maybe also to its presidents) thanking them for their countries' position expressed in New York and requesting the logical further steps in the framework of their domestic politics and legislations.
4. What is absolutely unclear - at least for me - after this final vote: how could happen, that many democratic states, among them many co-sponsors of L.32 abstained during the vote?! What happened with them during 48 hours?
