SAINT PETERSBURG. THE MANIFESTATION "TO DEFEND CHECHEN PEOPLE" AND TO PROTEST AGAINST RUSSIAN LEADERSHIP'S ACTIONS IN CHECHNYA HAS TAKEN PLACE IN SAINT PETERSBURG ON DECEMBER 25 IN FRONT OF KAZAN CATHEDRAL(Express-Khronika, Release 1417, December 25, 1994)
The manifestation was initiated by the Democratic Union and was organized by the Hands Off Chechnya Committee, which united representatives of many public and political organizations. About 300 persons have taken part in the action. The collection of money for making respective printing issues and leaflets was also organized there. The gathered participants decided to conduct such manifestations weekly, untill the conflict in Chechnya will not be solved.
