"Express-Chronika" No 1453, January 31, 1995

On January 30 this action was held due to members of anti-military movement, including representatives of Democratic Union, ecologic organization "Keepers Of Rainbow", and free anarchists. The goal of the action was to influence draftees to refuse serving in Russian army, that "is committing genocide in Chechen Republic". Walls of draft committees' buildings were ornamented by words: "Headquarters of fascist army", "Freedom to Chechnia!", "Shame on occupants!", "Murderers are recruited here", "Yeltsin is a murderer", "Hands off Chechnia!", "Don't be murderers!", and others. Those slogans were on walls of Tushinsky, Khoroshevsky, Zheleznodorozhny, Leningradsky, Proletarsky, Leninsky, Sevastopolsky, Sovetsky, Oktiabrisky, Cheriomushkinsky, Krasnogvardeisky, Timiriazevsky, and Frunzensky regional draft committees.

"Committee Of Opponents Of War" appealed all public organizations and citizens to participate in the action begun. Declaration published by "DS-INFO" includes following words: "There are many draft committees and military bases. Work awaits. We summon to all citizens liable to call-up, especially youth, not to serve in Russian army of murderers. Protest! You must not be silent while Russian squads finish massive murders in Chechnia! A people can not oppress another people and be free itself!"
