(Moscow, February 22) - The Central District Prefecture of Moscow have sent by fax this evening letters to the Committee of Soldiers' Mothers and Moscow office of the Radical Party, signed by prefect Mr. Alexandr Muzykantskij, where he informs about his decision to change his own decision dated by February 20 about permission to render a place near Defence Ministry (Krestovozdvizhenskij per. 2) for picketing of Committee of Soldiers' Mothers.
The picketing against war in Chechnya, against militarism, for conscientious objection right, scheduled at 11.00 AM on February 23, should be concluded by die-in: demonstrators intended to fall onto sidewalk to commemorate those perished in Chechnya and as a protest against continuing bloodshed.
The same actions will be held at the same day in Rome on Piazza Rotonda, in London, Paris, Bonn and Kiev in front of Russian embassies.
"Postponing the time of the sanctioned action practically some hours before its beginning, looks like an open derision. Apart of the fact, that it violates the law about street actions, it is impracticable too: nobody simply will have any time to inform more than 100 supposed participants about postponing time of demonstration. The bully fax from prefecture is nothing as an attempt to prevent the anti-militarist manifestation at last minute - an attempt, undertaken under Defence Ministry's strong pressure. It shows also, that unfortunately in our country militarism remains a sacred cow", - declares Nikolaj Khramov, member of General Council of Radical Party, who coordinates the anti-militarist activity of the party.
"In our steps we intend to follow the only legal order of Central District's prefect, those N 195r from February 20, which permits to hold picketing from 11 to 12 AM", - Anzhelika Chechina, responsible for this action from side of Soldiers' Mothers Committee, said.
Manifestation near Defence Ministry in Moscow will take place in spite of the illegal attempt practically to prohibit it, undertaken by prefecture.
