The picket took place on February 23 since 11:00 till 12:00 in the morning, while the prefecture allowed it since 2:00 till 3:00 P.M. Members of Moscow society "Memorial". Committee of Soldiers' Mothers, Quakers' Peace Service, Radical party, Buddhist order "Nippo-jan Mekho-ji" and other humanitarian organizations took part in the anti-military picket. At 11:00 militia separated Ministry of Defence by metal fence from the side of Yanyshev street, and declared that the action will begin at permitted time only. In spite of that, about 70 people gathered at 11:00. They carried slogans "The war in Chechnia is a shame!", "Army of punishers", "We demand to bring guilty in the slaughter to court", "War is unbearable" and others. About 11:30 participants of the action lied on their backs to pray for victims of the war in Chechnia and lied about 10 minutes. There were no encounters with militia.
