The press conference took place on March 17, 1995, at 5 p.m.; address: Kyjiv, Khreschatyk 4, UNIAN information agency.
Position of Radical Party on issues of AIDS and drugs' anti-prohibitionism was represented by Alexander Kostritsky (Radical party Kiev office).
PRESS CONFERENCE was organized to consider issues:
-- Social minorities and their status in Ukraine;
-- Creation of Citizens' Committee for Human Rights Protection;
-- Organization of IX Regional Conference of International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) in May, 1995;
-- Organization of the first Kiev gay-pride.
The press conference was one of the first in Ukraine, that's why it attracted a great interest of mass media. Three TV agencies were accredited; about 50 journalists representing newspapers of several countries participated the conference.
After the press conference, at the first time journalists could meet with anonymous HIV-infected and gays, who spoke about facts of human rights violations in their life.
Planned participants: representatives of International Health Organization, United Nations, Ukrainian National President's committee for struggle against AIDS, Radical party, gay initiative "Two Colours", Ukrainian lesbian and gay association "Ganimed", members of Organizational Committee for organization of IX ILGA Conference and the first Kiev gay-pride, representatives of other organizations, also HIV-infected and AIDS-deseased people, and people who have to use drugs.
