PARTECIPATION AND STATEMENT TO THE 37. CONGRESS OF RADICAL PARTY
BY GYALTSEN GYALTAG REPRESENTATIVE OF H.H. THE DALAI LAMA FOR UN AND EU AFFAIRS.

Rome, april 12th '95

"The relationship between the Radical Party and tibetan people has a long history" said Gyaltsen Gyaltag to the 37. Congress of the Transnational Radical Party which was held in Rome on March 7th to 8th. He thanked the Radical Party for its active support in favour of Tibet during the past years: "the PR substains the tibetan people rights since a long time ago ".

One of the main moments of such a strong link has been the visit of H. H. the Dalai Lama to the headquarters of Radical Party on june 1994 in Rome.

Gyaltsen Gyaltag said that nonviolence is the method we have in common, between the Dalai Lama and Transnational Radical Party. He's very interested in the International Campaign in support of tibetan and chinese people's rights "Satyagraha 1997" that Radical Party and all of Tibet support groups around the world are going to organize.

He expressed his hope for the adoption by all the Parliaments in the world of the Motion containing engagements in order to ask governments to hold actions to improve the Nonviolent International Campaign against any huuman rights violations.

The TRP is an international, nonviolent, non-ideological political transparty with dozens thousands of members in over 70 countries; among them, several hundreds of MPs elected in several National Parliaments. Its Secretariat is currently based in Rome. The TRP lobbies the UN on democracy, peace and human rights issues, asking above all for a new juridical international order, based on Law's principles and juridical and jurisdictional institutions.

It has been leading numerous militant nonviolent campaigns in support of political recognition by the UN and governments of the Dalai Lama and democratic and nonviolent initiatives for a Chinese-Tibet conference organized by the U.N.

The Congress of the Transnational Radical Party has elected Mr Jean Francois Hory (France, MEP) as its President; Mr Olivier Dupuis (Belgium) as its new Secretary; Mr Danilo Quinto (Italy) as its Treasurer.
