Dear M. Dupuis,

Thank you for your letter of 3 August about the establishment of an international criminal court. The United Kingdom delegation will be participating actively in the August session of the Ad Hoc Committee which is considering this matter, and we hope to see progress made in the discussion of the interesting, complex and important issues involved in the establishment of a court.

I believe that the April session of the Committee was very useful. Once the Ad Hoc Committee has completed its work, individual governments will be able to review the progress made and take the necessary decisions as to future action.
