Bruxelles, New York, Rome, October 19, 1995. Francisco CHAVIANO, President of the Counsel for Civil Rights in Cuba, Anna CHAVIANO, political prisoner since April 1994 in the prison of Combinado del Este, in Havana, had to interrupt his hunger strike began 22 days ago, due to the deterioration of his health condition caused by ill-treatments during his detention. The establishment of the International defense team follows the adoption of the resolution on the case by the European Parliament.

An international defense team was formed which will review the case according to Cuban laws and to principles of international rights ratified also by Cuba.

Members of this team are:
