HAVEL ABOUT TCHAJ-WAN

MLADA FRONTA DNES, 26.10.1990, page 1: The Czech President Havel stated yesterday in the seat of UN yesterday that it is regrettable if Thaj-wan is not a member of UN. He said:"From the historical point of view is China one country, but now there are two states. Thaj-wan has prosperity and democracy. It is sad that it is not in UN."

The Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Zieleniec in reaction to it immediately stated that Czech Republic, as most of other states, recognize the existence of only one China, which is People·s Republic of China. "We consider Thaj-wan to be a part of China·s territory", said Zieleniec.
