EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, ON THE INITIATIVE OF THE TRANSNATIONAL RADICAL PARTY, APPROVES THREE AMENDMENTS ON THE BUDGET OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT CONCERNING TIBET.
Brussels-New York, October 28, 1995. On the initiative of the Transnational Radical Party, the European Parliament approved three amendments presented by the European Parliamentarian Gianfranco Dell'Alba (Reformer, European Radical Alliance) that concern the Tibetan People.
The first amendment creates a new line of budget in order to provide "help to non-governmental organizations whose work provides support to Tibetan refuges". The amount of the financing is of 1,500.000 Ecu (about $1,900,000 US).
The second amendment fall within an already existing budget and provides financial access to "organizations that work in defense of human rights in Tibet".
Finally, the third amendment, also acting within the ambit of existing expenses, provides for the "informations for Tibetans, exiled or residents of Tibet, on all non-violent initiatives in favor of the defense and support for human rights, of democracy an freedom in Tibet, as well as similar initiatives in the European Union". The amount allocated for this is of 700.000 Ecu (about $850,000 US).
