Statement by Professor Chung II CHEE
...We are now living in an era, where we are bound together to achieve a common goal of living in peace and justice. History of mankind demonstrated that too often acts of mighty have prevailed and victims of brutal act were vanquished. Nevertheless, our ancestors and contemporaries demonstrated a sense of chivalry, compassion, humanity, and sense of justice, which are the exemplaries of our ideals and reasons. We have now reached a common plateau, where we would attempt to live together with common purposes and objectives, we have established the United Nations and are now attempting to create an international criminal court which would implement the ideals of the United Nations as prescribed in the preamble, Article 1 and 2 of the United Nations Charter. The International Criminal Court would serve as a guardian of justice to preserve world order with justice and peace
Now, we have the ILC's Draft Statute to the International Criminal Court and the Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Statute. We are one step closer to realizing our aspiration to live in peace and justice by dealing with lawlessness in international community. we came a long way and let us no fritter away the hard works produced by the ILC and the Report of the Ad Hoc Committee. A moment has come to stride directly into an undertaking that will bring us to purge crimes against international law.
