(Moscow, December 15, 1995) - The regular court session on the criminal case of Alina Vituhnovskaja, a 22-years old Moscow poetess and journalist accused by FSB (Federal Security Service) in drug trafficking, was held today in Golovinsky inter-municipal court of Moscow. After the short proceedings, the session was suspended till January 17, next year because of Alina's illness. Nikolaj Khramov, coordinator ad interim of the Radical Party in Russia and CIS, was present on the today's court session.
Alina Vituhnovskaja was arrested by agents of FSB in October, last year, soon after publication of an article about illegal drug market in Russia, appearing in Moscow weekly New Times. She was accused in drugs sale on the sum of 7 US dollars. After 361 days spent in Butyrskaja prison of Moscow, she was released but the criminal case against her still continues. Among Alina's public defenders are Junna Moritz, Andrey Bitov, Alexandr Tkachenko and Lev Timofeev - members of Russian PEN Center.
In November this year Alina Vituhnovskaja has joined the Radical Party in order to support the attempts undertaken by this transnational and transparty organization directed to the transformation in anti-prohibitionist sense of national policies as well as international laws regarding drugs.
