Dear friends,
through the channels of War Resisters' International I heard
about the case of Vadim Hesse. I'm working on the German
anarchist pacifist magazine 'Graswurzelrevolution', and therefore
I'm interested in any informations available about anti-
militarism and conscientious objection in Russia.
Please send us some informations on Vadim's case. We would like
to publish a brief article in our next issue (March 96). But for
one of the following issues I would also like to have a deeper
look into the situation of conscientious objetion and anti-
militarism in Russia.
I think you should know a little bit more about our view on
this topic (in general). In principle we are against conscription
and therefore are against alternative civilian service, because
it is only a result of the militarist conscription system.
Without conscription there would be no reason for an alternative
civilian service. Therefore we are in favour of and support total
objectors, in Germany, state of Spain and all over the world.
It is not necessary, that you agree with this opinion. If not,
it doesn't matter, I'm interested in more informations on Russia
anyway. Maybe you have something like a platform or some
statements (in English would be very good, but Russian would be
ok, I think we will find somebody to translate) which you can
send to us.
However, I think it would be useful to stay in contact and I
hope we can exchange some informations. Maybe you can help me
with some contacts to anarchist or anarchist pacifist groups in
Russia?
I wish you good luck, and lovely greetings of solidarity to
Vadim Hesse.
Love and peace, bread and roses,
Andreas Speck
