A FLAG FOR TIBET: THERE ARE NOW OVER 300 CITIES. FROM BERKELEY THE FIRST IMPORTANT AMERICAN ADHESION.
DEMONSTRATIONS IN WASHINGTON AND BRUSSELS: 16 DAYS TO MARCH 10.
Shirley Dean, Mayor of the city that in the Sixties in the USA and in the world started the nonviolent resistance to the Vietnam war, will display the Tibetan Flag on the coming March 10. This is an important adhesion that unites even more the demonstrations for the freedom of Tibet which are being organized in the two continents. In Washington, where the long march to New York will begin, and in Brussels, site of the European demonstration as well as in the other European cities where initiatives for March 10 are being organized, we are in the stage of the last and often most important preparations. We are, in effect, only 16 days away to our March 10 date.
The "A Flag for Tibet" campaign, is at this time over the 300 mayors mark. At the closing of this number of the newsletter, are already 311 (179 is the countdown to the goal of 500 adhesions) the mayors that will display the Tibetan flag on the top of their townhalls.
An important news item that concerns the demonstration of Brussels, is that of the adhesion of 32 European Parliamentarians to the Platform for March 10. Numerous are also the adhesions of agencies, associations and political parties that we have received in the last few days. In the next issue of this bulletin we will publish the complete list of adhesions.
16 days, therefore, or rather "only"...
