Yesterday, on March the 11th, there was held the demonstration for freedom for Tibet in front of the Chinese Embassy in Prague. It was organized by Human In Troubles Foundation. About 300 people, including activists of PENCLUB, HOST, S.O.S. Tibet, Tolerance Foundation and Transnational Radical Party, took part in it. The demonstration was opened at 5p.m. by speech of Simon Panek, head of Human in Troubles Foundation, who read the protesting letter adressed to Chinese Ambassador. Then, Olga Cechurova, member of General Council of the Radical Party, was invited to inform about the worldwide campagne "Freedom for Tibet", in particular about the results of "Flag for Tibet" campagne and about the European demonstration in Brussels on the 10th of March. Stanislav Penc from HOST (Movement for Civic Solidarity and Tolerance) shortly reminded the necessity of approving the resolution on Tibet and China in the Czech Parliament.
The representatives of this demonstration tryed to give the letter to the Ambassador, but the Secretary of Chinese Embassy refused to accept it saying that the demonstration is not well-founded. The whole course of the demonstration, which lasted about one hour, was followed not only by Czech mass-medias, but also by the staff of Chinese Embassy with cameras.
The demonstration got good coverage in the Czech television yesterday and in the press today (see the following text).
