DEMONSTRATION ON CHECHNYA IN PRAGUE

Tomorrow, March the 28th, 1996 at 5 p.m. there will be held the demonstration on Chechnya in front of the Russian Embassy in Prague. An opened letter adressed to the President and Government of the Russian Federation will be given to the representatives of the Embassy.

In the meantime there will be published an appeal to the statesmen and constitutional functionaries of the Czech Republic and to the representatives of the Council of Europe to pursue the Russian government to immediatelly stop the attacks against Chechnyan people and to follow the norms, which the Russian government commited itself to respect while being accepted to the Council of Europe. These texts are signed by: Filip POSPISIL (Amnesty International), Jan WUNSCH (Centre for the Support of Local initiatives), Zdenek TROJAN (Movement for Civic Solidarity and Tolerance; M.P.), Dana FEMINOVA (Humanistic Movement), Simon PANEK (Human in Troubles Foundation), Ondrej CAKL (Ladronka Foundation), Jan SKOUMAL (International Society for Human Rights), Olga CECHUROVA (Transnational Radical Party).

Among those who are scheduled to have a speech during the demonstration is Jaromir STETINA - journalist from Agency Epicentrum - and Zdenek TROJAN - Member of Czech Parliament and Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
