AN APPEAL TO THE PEOPLES AND GOVERNMENTS OF NATIONS OF THE WORLD

Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj, a voluntary organization, with mass base in India, is carrying forward the Mission of Mahatma Gandhi of bringing about a revolutionary change in society through nonviolent means, for harmony between different sections of society and strengthening the force of peace, by trying to find out nonviolent solutions of different problems for establishment of peace and justice, and also to render moral support to all peaceful and nonviolent struggles against injustice and oppression in various parts of the world. With these objectives we have undertaken various programmes involving millions of people. We have also taken initiatives to establish friendly relations between our immidiate neighbours by people to people contact.

The struggle of the Tibetian people under the noble leadership of H.H. the Dalai Lama against the present Chinese rule is one of the unique and remarkable and peaceful and nonviolent struggles of our times. As a true follower of Lord Buddha, H.H. the Dalai Lama is one of the greatest living symbol of nonviolence. Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj salutes the Dalai Lama and his followers for carriyng on the nonviolent struggle.

To strengthen the forces of nonviolence, it is imperative to see that the nonviolent movement under the leadership of H.H. the Dalai Lama, for the liberation and well-being of Tibetian as well as Chinese people against the present oppressive rule, succeeds. We feel that the movement of Mahatma Gandhi for liberation will remain unfulfilled till the oppressed people anywhere in the world, including our next door neighbou, Tibet, achieves "Swaraj" (Self rule).

With these objectives, the Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj has taken up an action programme as under:

FIRST STEP - To express its support and solidarity to the Tibetioan struggle, Akhil Bharat Rachanatmak Samaj organised special prayer meetings on three different occasions, that is, on 2nd October, 1995, Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, 25th December, 95 Christmas and on 3rd May, 1996 - Lord Buddha's birthday.

Hundreds of Prayer meetings were held simultaneously in different parts of the country and also in manu other countries, which had evoked enthousiastic response from different sections of the public.

SECOND STEP - To arouse world public opinion to persuade the present rulers of China to see reason, we have decided to organise a nonviolent action programme on the forthcoming birthday of Mahatma Gandhi - 2nd October, 1996, in New Delhi. Batches of eleven members each will present a Memorandum simultaneously at 11.00 A.M. at all the Embassies in India which will be preceded by prayers and meditation.

The Memorandum will consist of the following:

a) We urge the Chinese authorities to initiate, without pre-conditions, a dialogue with H.H. the Dalai Lama to find an amicable solution to the Tibet problem.

b) To restore the right of the Tibetian to protect their religious, cultural and spiritual way of life.

c) To respect human rights, to save the environnement and to stop the population transfer forthwith.

THIRD STEP - To organise International "Satyagraha" consisting of members belonging to different nations, committed to nonviolence, inside Tibet, on Buddha Jayanti in May, 1997.
