(Moscow, October 2, 1996) - The candle vighil under slogan "Freedom for Tibet, Democracy for China" has taken place tonight, at the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth, at 7.00 PM near Gandhi monument in Moscow. The action was organized by Radical Party and Tibet Information & Culture Center. There were about 50 participants from Radical Party, Friends of Tibet Society and Youth Solidarity Liberal Union (YSLU). The demonstrators held banner "Freedom For Tibet", slogans "Free Panchen Lama and Wei Jingsheng" and "Freedom For Tibet, Democracy For China", as well as Tibetan national flags and banners with Radical Party's symbol - profile of Mahatma Gandhi.
After the Buddhist pray for peace, freedom and democracy, pronounced by Tibetan Buddhist monks, representatives of organizing groups have made interventions: Navang Rabgyal, personal representative of H. H. the Dalai Lama in Russia, CIS and Mongolia; Nikolaj Khramov, coordinator of Radical Party in CIS countries; Dulma Shagdarova, secretary of Friends of Tibet Society; Roman Tkach, president of YSLU.
This manifestation became a culmination point of three-day international dialogue fasting for immediate liberation of Panchen Lama and Wei Jingsheng, an action which gathered also more then 80 participants in Russian Federation (among almost one and half thousands of people in the world).
