STATEMENT BY Ms. LENE N. LIND

Mr. Chairman,

[...] Norway is impressed by the progress made by the Preparatory Committee under the able leadership of Ambassador Adriaan Bos. We believe that we have come a long way in completing the framework for a truly effective International Criminal Court, and we support the draft resolution presented by Ambassador Bos today.

Realising that is necessary to maintain momentum and that work is still needed to complete a draft statute, this delegation considers it essential that a strict time schedule for the completion of the work be agreed upon. It is our firm belief that this work should be completed in time for a diplomatic conference to be convened as proposed by Italy here today, in June 1998.
