Dear TRP friends, While you will be marching for Tibet in Geneva in March, I will be in a remote corner of Nepal in order to set up a Health Programme in a Tibetan Refugee camp. I wish you every succes for your Geneva initiative.

The EU governements and their friends the big multinationals want us to undestand that our endeavours are vain and that Tibet is definitively lost to the Chinese Communists. Just as they want us to give up hope over East Timor, Kurdistan, the Western Sahara, and over the progress of democracy in general. Therefore what you are doing is important. Never give up.

I'm spending some time in Germany at the moment. As you probably know, there is a big debate underway about the liberalisation of drugs, at the initiative of Mayors and Police Chiefs of big cities like Bremen, Hamburg, Hannover etc. in the North. The (Catholic and corrupt) South opposes this drive for decriminalisation of all drugs. The express purpose of this campaign is to detroy the market for drugs and the high prices by selling drugs cheaply in pharmacies.

It was very satisfactory to watch people in important positions saying all the intelligent things that can be said against the prohibition of drugs. Last week there were two long public debates on TV. There seems to be great sympathy among the Germans for decriminalisation. And great resistance on the part of the government.
