Cuba to donate relife materual to DPRK
Havana, May 12 (KCNA) -- The party and Government of the Republic of Cuba decided to donate 10,000 tons of soft sugar
to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea damaged by flood last year. Kim Sung Ryong, Korean Ambassador to Cuba,
was informed of this decision by Carlos Lage, politburo member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba,
Vice- President of the Council of State and Secretary General of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers,
authorized by Fidel Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC, President of the Council of State and
President of the Council of Ministers, on May 12. Carlos Lage noted that Cuba regards it as its duty and obligation to send
simple relief material to the fraternal Korean people suffering from natural disaster. The friendship between the two countries is
a great one based on the intimacy between the leaders of the two countries and the friendship is further strengthening in hard
times, he said, and stressed: "The Cuban people firmly believe that the party, Government and people of Korea will
successfully overcome the temporary difficulties and continue to make great success in socialist construction under the
leadership of Secretary Kim Jong Il."
