Reports of joint U.S.Chinese pressure on North Korea to
enter peace talks are ruining prospects for the proposed conference. North Korea said Tuesday. President Bill Clinton And President Jang Zemin of China issued a joint statement last week agreeing, among other things, to urge North Korea to join peace talks on the divided Korean Peninsula. " Such reports only get on our nerves," an unidentified spokesman for North Korea's Foreign Ministry said. "The rumours now spread by some mass media will only throw a wet blanket over the atmosphere that is getting favourable." (AP)
