8th European TSG Conference

The Office of Tibet, Paris is organising the 8th European TSG Conference on Saturday, March 7, 1998. All European TSG should have already received preliminary notice about this conference along with information regarding the Sunday's commemoration. However, if your TSG has not received any information on the ETSGC, please contact the Office of Tibet, Paris immediately.(see below)
Mr. TC Tethong, Minister for International Relations will convene the ETSGC.
The 8th ETSGC will be a strategy meeting for leaders of TSGs to:
- follow up on the actions agreed upon at the 2nd International Tibet Support Group Conference held in Bonn, Germany in 1996
- establish some commong goals and objectives for pro-Tibet political and educational activities
- better coordinate European initiaitves and activities on behalf of Tibet
The 7th ETSGC hosted by the Norwegian Tibet Comite was held in Oslo, Norway in 1994.
Registration material for the ETSGC will be sent by the end of this week.

On Sunday, March 8, 1998, Tibetans and Tibet supporters in Europe will gather in Paris, France to commemorate the 1959 March 10 Tibetan people's uprising in Lhasa and to support His Holiness the Dalai Lama's proposal for dialogue with the Chinese government.
This third gathering follows two previous European level demonstrations held in Brussels, 1996 (coordinated by Transnational Radical Party) and Geneva, 1997 (coordinated by Tibet Bureau & Transnational Radical Party). With participants coming from all corners of Europe, continued success is predicted by organizers of this year's commemoration.
