Townhall Meeting with Wei Jingsheng
2:00 PM, Sunday, February 1, 1998
Tyser Auditorium, Van Munching Hall, School of Public Affairs
University of Maryland, College Park
Mr. Wei Jingsheng, the most prominent Chinese dissident, will meet with students and scholars from Mainland China in a Townhall style meeting on Sunday, February 1, at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Co-sponsored by UMD'S Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy School of Public Affairs, and the Independent Federation of Chinese Students & Scholars (IFCSS), this will be Wei Jingsheng's first public dialog with the Mainland Chinese student community in the US.
Separated by time and life experiences, generation gaps exist between Wei Jingsheng and the younger overseas Chinese. This Townhall meeting provides an opportunity for a free discussion and exchange of ideas, so that understanding and mutual trusts can be established.
The meeting will be open to the public and conducted in Chinese. English translation can be arranged upon request. For more information, please contact IFCSS at:
