POLITICAL PRISONERS IN CUBA IN URGENT NEED OF SUPPORT
1. Felix Bonne Carcacés: Prison of Guanajay, Havana.
File # 39 of 1997. Trial has not taken place yet.
Detained on July 15, 1997 for being one of the drafters of the document "The Homeland is for All" (La Patria es de Todos); which responded to the official document of the Cuban Communist Party in their V Congress.
Age: 58 years old
Profession: University Professor
Organization: Cuban Civic Current, ( Corriente Civica Cubana) association of independent academicians
Accusation: "Dissemination of Enemy Propaganda"
He suffers from diabetes, hypertension, and severe asthma, he was hospitalized for cardiac problems in the past month of September.
2. Jesus Chambert Ramirez: Kilo 8 Maximum Security prison, Camagaey
Cause # 2 of 1996
Accusation: "Dissemination of Enemy Propaganda and
Contempt of the Commander in Chief "
Condemned to 10 years of deprivation of liberty.
Age: 37 years old
Has been detained since January of 1992.
Confined to undetermined time in the brutal area of isolation, lacking the minimum conditions for subsistence: water, ventilation, and illumination. Denied access to religious materials. The repression against him was increased because of the politically motivated hunger strike he carried out.
3. Francisco Chaviano Gonzales: Combinado del Este prison, Havana.
Cause # 132 of 1995
Detained on May 7,1994
Tried in Court on April 15, 1995.
Accusation: "Revelation of Secrets Concerning the Security of the State"
Condemned to 15 years of imprisonment
Age: 44 years old
Profession: Teacher
Organization: National Council for Civil Rights in Cuba (Consejo Nacional por los Derechos Civiles en Cuba)
Chaviano had been imprisoned for gathering a list of those who had disappeared at sea trying to leave Cuba and for his human rights work in Cuba. Chaviano is suffering greater repression ever since he sent a letter to the Ministry of the Interior and the Attorney General objecting the lack of justice in the handling of his case. Chaviano is suffering from intestinal disorders as well as a stomach ulcer.
4. Jorge Luis Garcia Pérez "Antonez": Provincial Prison of Guantanamo, Guantanamo.
Cause #4 of 1990- accusation: "Spoken Dissemination of Enemy Propaganda ".
Cause #5 of 1993- accusation: "Dissemination of Enemy Propaganda and Tentative Sabotage".
Sentence: 15 years of imprisonment
Age: 33 years old
Profession: Qualified Laborer
Confined in punishment cells. Because of the severe beatings he has endured he is in a terrible physical shape with bone fractures, and a severe renal ailment.
5. René Gomez Manzano: Prison of Agaica, Matanzas.
File # 32 of 1997. Trial has not taken place yet.

6. Rafael Ibarra Roque: Kilo 8 Maximum Security Prison, Camagaey.
Cause #5 of 1989
Condemned to 20 years of deprivation of liberty.
Accusation: "Sabotage"
Imprisoned on 17/6/94
Age: 39 years old
Profession: Small Farmer
Organization: 30th of November Democratic Party Frank Pais (Partido Democratico 30 de Noviembre Frank Pais)
Rafael Ibarra has not seen the light of day in two years since his imprisonment, this has caused him serious skin conditions. He was falsely accused and imprisoned due to his work as a human rights activist his monitoring of unjust forceful evictions carried out by the Cuban government. He was judged arbitrarily, and none of the causes for which he was tried were proved in court. He is also suffering from severe digestive problems.
7. Julio Morales Gonz les: Kilo 8 Maximum Security Prison, Camagaey
Accusation: "Sabotage and Contempt of the Commander in Chief"
Condemned to 6 years in Prison Julio Morales Suffers from a nervous condition which is deliberately aggravated by the authorities of the precinct.
Confined to undetermined time in the brutal area of isolation, lacking the minimum conditions for subsistence: water, ventilation, and illumination. Denied access to religious materials. The repression against him was increased because of his refusal to meet the provincial Delegate of the Ministry of the Interior.
8. Vladimiro Roca: Prison of Arisa, Cienfuegos.
Detained on July 15, 1997 for being one of the drafters of the document"The Homeland is for All" (La Patria es de Todos); which responded to the official document the Cuban Communist Party in their V Congress.
Age: 55 years old
Profession: Economist, Ex combat pilot
Organization: Social Democratic Cuban Party, (Partido Social Democrata Cubano).
Accusation: " Dissemination of Enemy Propaganda"
9. Néstor Rodriguez Lobaina: Provincial Prison of Guant namo,
Guantanamo.
Cause #22 for 1997
Accusation: Contempt.
Condemned to 18 months of imprisonment
Age: 32 years old
Student
Organization: Young Cubans for Democracy Movement (Movimiento de Jovenes Cubanos por la Democracia)
He is in a punishment cell and has suffered severe beatings in the last months, especially in September and October leaving him with serious lesions.
10. Marta Beatriz Roque Cabello: Eastern Women's Prison, Manto Negro, Havana.
File # 39 of 1997. The trial has not taken place yet.

Organization: Institute of Independent Cuban Economists (Instituto de Economistas Independientes Cubanos).
Right now she is hospitalized in the Carlos J. Finlay Military Hospital in Havana with a serious problem of cysts and inflammation of the breasts.
