Dear friends,

The Diplomatic conference is facing a quite difficult stage of the negotiations. We are aware that our common long-term efforts are now at risk, and that the promise, given by the convening of this Conference to the victims of the past and future terrors and to the International Community for the creation of an effective instrument of international justice, could be vain.

In this crucial moment, we are still convinced that States can find the needed political will to achieve the establishment of an effective and independent Court by the end of this Conference. For all these reasons we have planned some important initiatives during this last week of negotiations.

We believe, like you, that the mobilisation of civil society is needed and fundamental.

On July 14, a torch-light march will be convened here in Rome. The march will move from Piazza del Campidoglio, at 8:00 p.m., and will reach the FAO building passing through the Colosseo and the Via Sacra. Once reached the FAO Headquarters, participants will remain there, underlining the will and the hope that has brought over 500 individuals (so far) to start, 5 days ago, a fast for dialogue. This initiative has been endorsed by a continuously growing number of citizens and will go on until the end of the Conference and we hope to enlist you among them.

'Fasters', and other citizens, are also planning to assure a continuous and visible presence in front of the FAO. We are also planning a speaking marathon - aired by Radio Radicale 2, and webcast on Transnational Radical Party's website www.radicalparty.org/icc - to tell diplomats "I care, because I have a dream".

We want to share this opportunity with you. Starting from Thursday July 16, from 6:00 p.m. until the end of the Conference, the microphone will be at your full disposal. We would appreciate if you could join us in this political nonviolent initiative adding it to all the things that we have been doing together in the last few years.
