Russia/Kosovo/Indictment of Milosevic: manifestation in Moscow

RUSSIA/èÄæÄéÄ/INDICTMENT OF MILOSEVIC:

DEMONSTRATION OF THE RADICAL PARTY AT STATE DUMA UNDER THE SLOGAN "PROTECT THE SERBIAN BROTHERS FROM NATIONAL-COMMUNIST REGIME OF MILOSEVIC" HAS CAUSED FIERCE REACTION OF COMMUNISTS FROM "LABOUR RUSSIA".

NEW SIGNATURES UNDER THE APPEAL IN THE HAGUE TRIBUNAL WITH THE REQUIREMENT TO ISSUE TO MILOSEVIC OFFICIAL INDICTMENT IN WAR CRIMES

Moscow, October 16. -- The Russian members of the Transnational Radical Party have carried out today in morning manifestation at the building of State Duma in Okhotny Riad appealing to Russian parliamentarians to support the appeal in the Hague tribunal with the requirement of official indictment to the Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic in war crimes and crimes against humanity.

During one hour (from 9 o'clock till 10 o'clock) the activists of the Radical Party under blue flags with a party emblem (face of Ghandi, composed by words "Radical Party" in 50 languages) faced to the main entrance of the Duma, holding the posters "Freedom for Kosovo, democracy for Serbia", "Belgrade Regime Must Be Overthrown", "No to bombardments, yes to warrant on arrest of Milosevic", "Defend Serbian brothers from national-communist regime of Milosevic" in Russian and English languages and distributing to the deputies, journalists and passer-by the leaflets with a photo of Slobodan Milosevic with the inscription "Wanted!" and text of the appeal to the Hague tribunal.

The deputy of the State Duma Konstantin Borovoj (independent), chairman of a Party of economic freedom, one of the first signatories under the appeal to the Hague tribunal in the State Duma, has also taken part also in Radical Party's demonstration.

The Radical demonstration has caused aggressive reaction from the activists of Viktor Anpilov's "Labour Russia" who were at the same place carrying out their demonstration in support of general Albert Makashov, MP, against whom by the General Prosecutor the criminal case for anti-semitic appeals to violent actions is exited. In spite of the fact that Communists, as against Radicals, did not submit the notification about their action to police and, hence, it was illegal, the militia could not or has not wished to stop the stalinists' hooligans pranks, insulting Radical activists and Konstantin Borovoj.

The demonstration was not bypassed by the attention of Vladimir Zhirinovskij. Approaching to Radical activists, he has expressed solidarity with condemnation of national communist regime in Belgrade, however has doubted of opportunity and expediency of criminal prosecution of the Serbian president, having noticed, that "at the same time he is elected by the people".

In the meantime in the different countries of the world, and also in the Internet, the campaign, organized by the Radical Party, for collecting signatures under appeal to the Hague tribunal for indictment of Slobodan Milosevic for organizing of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Under this appeal already have put the signatures almost 40 thousand citizens of the different countries of the world, including more than 400 deputies of national parliaments of the various states and European parliament.

As of today's morning the appeal was signed already by four deputies of State Duma: Julij Rybakov (independent), Konstantin Borovoj (independent), Arkadij Jankovskij ("Russian regions"), Saak Karapetjan ("Jabloko"). Among Russian signatories of the appeal also: David Filipov, Moscow correspondent of the "Boston Globe"; Anatolij Azarov, director of the Moscow school of the human rights; Igor Bezrukov, lawyer; Wladimir Bukovsky, writer, former Soviet political prisoner; Julia Kalinina, political columnist of the "Moskovskij Komsomolec"; Lev Levinson, responsible secretary of Human Rights Chamber at the President of Russian Federation; Maria Markina, journalist of the "Moskovskij Komsomolec"; Evgenij Poljakov, sociologist, member of board of Institute of religion and law; Anatolij Pristavkin, writer; Nikolaj Khramov, secretary of the Antimilitarist Radical Association (ARA).
