Death penalty/message on a case in India

Date: Tue, 10 Nov 1998

Dear Sir/Madam,

I wonder if you are aware of the case currently occuring in India involving twenty-six people (mainly Sri Lankan Tamils) who have been sentenced to death after being charged with the assasination of Rajiv Gandhi. Many holes appeared in the prosecution's case throughout the trial and many believe these people to be innocent, merely scapegoats.

As an organisation set up to oppose the death penalty I wonder if you would be able to support these people and help to fight fot their release, or at least fight to save them from this punishment. If you require more information please contact me, or contact the web site that will give you more information about this case: save@26lives.org

Thank you for your time,

Yours faithfully,

Catherine Phillips.
