In Belgium, a Congolese official has asked for
assurances from the Belgian authorities that Mr
Kabila will not face legal proceedings.
Opposition representatives there say they have
filed law suits against Mr Kabila for alleged
genocide and crimes against international law.
A delegation of rebels from eastern Congo is also
in Europe - to object to President Kabila's visit.
Protest
Mr Kabila met Congolese nationals and Italian
Foreign Ministry officials in Rome on the first full
day of his visit.
In Brussels, there was a small protest against Mr
Kabila's visit, with demonstrators climbing into the
grounds of the Royal Palace.
They accuse him of massacring ethnic Hutus
during the overthrow of former President Mobutu.
