Mr Dupuis and Mr Dell'Alba, elected members of the EP's Radical Alliance, expressed their solidarity with Tom Spencer, British Conservative, who did not stand for the next European elections because cannabis was found in his luggage (see EUROPE of 1/2 February, p.6). They denounced the "defamation campaign" against him based on the diffusion of information concerning his private life. As regards the "very small amount of drug" found in his possession, they regret they could not count on the "asset of having a deputy of Mr Spencer's value" in the fight they have carried out over years now against the "prohibitionist policy".
