ANTISEMITISM/RELIGIOUS FREEDOM/CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION: LAST VOTING IN THE STATE DUMA CONTRASTS WITH LATEST RESOLUTION OF EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN RUSSIA
Statement of Nikolaj Khramov, Russian coordinator of the Transnational Radical Party:
Moscow, March 23, 1999. "The Friday's voting in the State Duma rejecting draft motion on anti-semitic expressions of Communist MP, Gen. Albert Makashov, contrasts very visibly with the resolution on human rights in Russia, recently adopted by the European Parliament on the initiative of MEPs members of Radical Party.
The EP resolution represents a clear signal sent from Strasburg to Russian political establishment, which should realize: growing aggressive nationalism, anti-semitism and xenophobia, anti-Western, anti-liberal rhetorics, militarism, reanimation of Cold War spirit, supporting criminal regimes - all this will cause the only one but very important thing: absence of Western money which remain the only source and the only base for future existence of Russian economy, destroyed and being yet more destroyed by statist liberticide and corrupt paradigm of Russian ruling class."
APPENDIX: Text of the EP resolution on human rights in Russia.
