UN COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS: TRANSNATIONAL RADICAL PARTY CRITICIZES THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN TUNISIA
Geneva, 13 April 1999. In the framework of the discussion on the civil and political rights the Transnational Radical Party brough to the attention of the UN Commission on Human Rights the continuous systematic repression of Tunisian democratic opposition and restrictive, arbitrary and anti-constitutional nature of the legislation concerning the civil and political life, worsened by an abusive administrative practice.
Ms. Chiara Steindler have denounced the repressive measures used by the Tunisian Government against the democratic opposition and human rights defenders, as is the case of Mr. Mohammed Moadda, Mr. Khemais Chammari, Ms. Radhia Nasraoui and Mr. Khemais Ksilla.
"Mr. Ksilla must imperatively be freed and we are convinced that, according to the resolution of the Sub-Commission, Madam Robinson, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, has taken his case into consideration, and that her careful interest as well as the international solidarity, will oblige the Tunisian authorities to put an end to the denial of justice that has lasted too long," concluded Ms. Steidler.
