The UN Commission on Human Rights approved today a resolution on the death penalty submitted by Germany on behalf of European Union and supported by 72 co-sponsoring countries, 25 of which are currently members of the Commission.
Prior to the vote on the resolution, India requested a separate vote on excluding the paragraphs 3(f), 4(b) and 5. The Commission has rejected this proposal.
The resolution was approved by 30 votes in favour, 11 votes against and 12 abrentions.
