KOSOVO: ITALY EXCLUDED FROM THE NATO'S CONTROL ROOM?
THE ACTUAL SITUATION JUST SUFFERED OR WANTED BY THE ITALIAN GOVERNMENT?
Declaration of Olivier Dupuis and Gianfranco Dell'Alba, radical eurodeputies:
Rome, 13 May 1999. "According to today's Le Monde 'the crisis in Kosovo is by now managed by the informal 'directorate' of the operations which assembles the chief of the White House and his privileged allies, it means his homologous of London, Bonn and Paris'.
If the affirmations of Le Monde are exact, we would be very curious to learn from the Italian Government whether this actual situation is a result of an autoexclusion of Italy from assuming its own responsibilities, also considering the fact that Italy constitutes the base of the allied operations, or whether it is a result of an exclusion wanted by some allies preoccupied by the fact that Italy 'would be obliged, for internal policy resons' (reasons of Dini or of Bertinotti of both of them), 'to make prevail its own reticences regarding the extension of air attacks'".
