An exclusive interview with the spokesman of the Provisional Government of Kosova Mr. Jakup Krasniqi with Kosovapress:
BLAIR PROMISES THAT HE WILL DEMAND FROM BELGRADE Tress: On Monday you met with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. What were the major points discussed at this meeting?

Jakup Krasniqi: The meeting with the British Prime Minister was truly friendly. Among other things, we provided him information concerning the humanitarian, political and security situation inside Kosova. We requested from Tony Blair assistance for the Kosovar population and the Kosova Liberation Army. We also requested from the United States and Britain to take the lead in the attempt to find a just solution to the Kosova issue. Mr. Blair promised that his country will demand from the regime in Belgrade its complete compliance to the five demands set by NATO.

Kosovapress: What is Mr. Blair and his government`s position concerning the war of liberation which the Kosova people and its army are conducting?

Jakup Krasniqi: The positions of the governments of both Great Britain and the United States concerning the political status of Kosova have advanced since the beginning of the war and are closer to our own demands.

Kosovapress: Have you discussed with Tony Blair the possibility of NATO providing assistance to the Kosova Liberation Army?

Jakup Krasniqi: This issue was also discussed.

Kosovapress: What was the position of Tony Blair concerning the continuous requests of the Provisional Government of Kosova and the Albanian Government for the intervention of NATO ground troops?

Jakup Krasniqi: Mr Blair and his government`s position is positive, and concerning earlier agreements, he strongly supports the Rambouillet agreement signed on 23rd of February, 1999, and in this context they also support the Provisional Government of Kosova and its Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci. Great Britain and the United States of America requests all Kosovar factions unite behind the spirit of Rambouillet which has granted the Kosova Liberation Army the right to choose the prime minister. This means the political factions of Kosova should unite around the war for freedom and the Provisional Government of Kosova.
