THE GOVERNMENT OF TAIWAN GIVES 300 MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF KOSOVO

DECLARATION OF OLIVIER DUPUIS, SECRETARY OF TRANSNATIONAL RADICAL PARTY AND MEMBER OF EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Rome, 8 June, 1999. "Once again the Republic of Taiwan not only demonstrates its ability to assume its responsibilities on the international level, but demonstrates also its ability to distinguish, contrary to the communist regime of Beijing, between aggressors and attacked. For this we thank it. Also for this, the international community, or better to say, the democratic part of the international community, should take action engaging itself for the full integration of Taiwan in all the international organisations. As for the "politicobureaucratical" obstacles that some State will surely put to it, we take the liberty to suggest to the Taiwanese Government a simple way to overcome it, giving the money to the provisional Government of Kosovo lead by Prime Minister Thaçi, being sure that the mechanisms and guarantees regarding the use of this money for humanitarian needs will be easily possible to find by the Taiwanese Government and Kosovar Government.
