According to Le Figaro, the Chair of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Jack Lang (who is being mentioned as a possible European Commissioner) has said he would be interested in taking responsibility for a provisional civil administration in Kosovo to be set up under a peace plan. Also, Belgian Radical Alliance MEP Olivier Dupuis commented onthe donation of USD 300 million made by the Government of Taiwan for rebuilding in Taiwan, saying that Taiwan, "unlike the regime in Beijing, knows how to make a distinction between agressors and agressees". In contrast, CSU Member of the EP Ingo Friedrich stated that "Germany must not be the principal contributor of extraordinary spending for Kosovo" and that, if the EU must release funds not yet written into its budget for rebuilding in Kosovo, the usual financing scale should not be used, since it gives Germany an excessive share of the burden.
