Bonino list calls for freeze on cooperation with Indonesia

The members of the Bonino list consider that events in East Timor "demonstrate the obvious and premeditated will of the highest Indonesian authorities of not only not respecting the outcome of the referendum, but also of embarking on a true operation ofethic cleansing". They call on the "Commission and Council to immediately freeze all forms of cooperation with Indonesia", and have tabled an amendment along these lines in the Union budget, calling on the "Union and Member States to back Australia's request calling for the deployment of a United Nations intervention force and to support all other measures that may put an end to the massacres".
