The Right Hon. George W. BUSH
Governor of the State of Texas
Austin, Texas
United States of Americ
Brussels, October 13, 1999
Dear Sir,
we allow ourselves to write you in order to raise a very important and delicate issue.
As you know Mr. Larry Keith Robison has been sentenced to death following the murder of five people and the date of his execution depends now on the result of the » competency test which will take place on November 8.
You must also be aware that Mr. Larry Keith Robinson is affected by a serious form of schizophrenia, that had never been cured appropriately and which triggered his horrendous crime. It is a universally recognised principle that people affected by serious mental disorders cannot be held responsible from a criminal point of view.
For those reasons and knowing how much human compassion and piety are important for you and guide your personal and political life, we address you, Mr Governor, to call for an act of courage and, according to the power invested in you as Governor, to commute Mr. Robison's death sentence into a life sentence.
With the strong belief that you will take this case in due consideration, we send our best and most respectful regards.
