NORTH ATLANTIC COUNCIL INVITES CROATIA TO JOIN PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE

ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - The North Atlantic Council (NAC) invited Croatia to join NATO's Partnership for Peace programme in Brussels on Wednesday. The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) is still to reach its decision this afternoon, after which Croatia's invitation would be official. Diplomatic sources in Zagreb told Hina that today's EAPC session starts at 3pm. It is expected that the other 25 member-countries of the Partnership for Peace would confirm the decision which the 19 NATO member-countries have adopted within the NAC.The Croatian Foreign Ministry expects Foreign Minister Tonino Picula will receive an invitation from Brussels regarding the signing of the necessary documents at a ministerial meeting of NATO and EAPC on May 24/25 in Florence, when Croatia should officially and formally become a member of the Partnership for Peace programme.
