Moscow, May 23, 2000 - Today 1962 signatures under the petition against the Chechen war have been passed to the president of the RF. The petition was an initiative of the Committee for antiwar actions and the signatures were collected at the street tables by the activists of the Antimilitarist radical association (ARA) and the Radical Party.
The transmission of the signatures to the reception-office of the president of the RF has been preceded by the picket of the Committee for antiwar actions at Staraya square near the monument to the Saint Equiapostolic Mephody and Cyrill.
The collection of the signatures under the petition against the Chechen war continues. Next tables will take place on May 26 and 31 from 17.00 to 20.00 and on May 27 from 15.00 to 20.00 near south entrance of the metro station "Leninsky prospect".
Activists of the antiwar movement of Germany supporting Russian conscientious objectors to protest the Chechen war collected 8169 signatures under Dmitry Neverovsky's manifesto "Without us, please!" which he had written in the Kaluga prison.
