Today's issue of "Commersant" writes about yesterday's press-conference of the deputy Klimov, which passed unnoticed. Klimov informed the journalists that he had introduced to the Duma amendments to the law on election of deputies. According to theseamendments the number of one-mandate deputies is increased to 300 instead of present 225. The number of deputies from party lists in the lower chamber is correspondingly diminished to 150. Furthermore, it is proposed to raise the necessary per centof voices from 5% to 7%. According to the deputy, the bill "goes together" with the president's package aimed at consolidating of the power vertical. The newspaper holds that if Klimov's amendments are adopted, the governors supressed by Putin willbe forced to support only those one-mandate deputies who are "convenient" for the Kremlin.
