3 October 2000Security guards at Novi Sad Television today ordered journalists of minority-language programs to leave the building, saying that these programs would no longer be aired. Journalists who arrived later were barred from the building.
Hajnalka Buda told the Humanitarian Law Center that the security guard at the entrance prevented her from going into the building. To her demand for an explanation, the guard said the order had come from Milan Todorov, the editor.
ôThe guard asked me to sign in at the entrance. When I asked if I were actually signing my first day away from work so I could be fired, he said æI suppose so,Æö Hajnalka Buda said.
Some 20 journalists of the Hungarian-, Romanian-, Ruthenian- and Slovak-language programs are gathered outside the building, waiting to be addressed by the management and told whether or not they are out of work. Their colleagues from the Serbian-language program who did not go on strike entered the building without hindrance.
