"HANDS OFF FROM FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN THE UN!" - MANIFESTATIONS IN MOSCOW AND ROME TO DEFEND THE TRANSNATIONAL RADICAL PARTY. NEW SIGNATURES OF THE PARLIAMENTARIES UNDER THE PETITION TO THE ECOSOC

"KGB for foreign affaires, hands off from the freedom of speech in the UN!", "What is bigger crime: to bomb people or to give them floor in the UN?", "For your and our right to freedom of speech in the UN", "Minister Ivanov is Vyacheslav Molotov today", "Hands off from non-governmental organizations", "Hands away from the Transnational Radical Party", "Ministry for Foreign Affaires of the Russian Federation is disgracing Russia in the UN" - under these signatures a dozen activists of the Radical Party hold today at 2:00 p.m. a piquet of protest opposite the building of the Ministry for Foreign Affaires at Smolenskaya-Sennaya square.

The action took place the day before the voting in the UN Economic and Social Counsil (ECOSOC) scheduled for tomorrow, October 18, where the question of the consultative status of the Transnational Radical Party in the UN is to be decided. The TRP has possessed this status since 1995. The delegation of the Russian Federation requested the withdrawal of this status from the TRP after Akhyad Idigov's, chairman of the Comission for foreign affaires of the Chechen parliament, intervention on behalf of the TRP at the 56th session of the UN Comission for human rights, held in Geneva in April of this year. The delegation of the Russian Federation brought against the TRP absurd and absolutely unsubstantiated charges of support to terrorism, participation in the drug trafficking and propaganda of paedophilia. Russia was suported in its attacks on the freedom of speech by China, Cuba, Sudan, Lebanon, Byelorussia and other "model democracies of the world". The front of western countries headed by France, Germany, USA,

Romania and Chile withstands to these attacks.

An analogous manifestation of the Radicals is held today in Rome from 3:30 (middle European time) to call the government of Italia to take an active stand to stop attacks of Russia and other antidemocratic regimes on the freedom of speech in the UN.

Meanwhile new signatures of parliamentaries appear under the petition to the chairman and members of the ECOSOC defending the Transnational Radical Party (including signatures from Russia). Untill today this petition has been signed particularly by the deputies of the State Duma Sergey Kovalyov (Union of Right Forces), Yuly Rybakov (URF), Sergey Mitrokhin ("Yabloko"); deputies of the Moscow City Duma Irina Rukina and Irina Osokina.
