Agora' Agora - 31 marzo 1990
On Saturday, March 31, 1990, the Italian Radical party staged a rally in front of the Soviet embassy in Rome.

This peaceful manifestation was performed under the keynote slogan "Gorbachov-Landsbergis Reach an Agreement!", and came as a follow-up to an open letter addressed directly to President Gorbachov and President Landsbergis as well as the international press in Italian, English and Russian. The letter calls on both Soviet leaders to work out the Lithuanian independence question through nonviolent initiatives and political negotiations.

Those present at the rally numbered approximately 50 persons, including Emma Bonino and Sergio Stanzani, who were interviewed by Lamia Panglonite from the Italian nation-wide RAI-II television network. This interview will subsequently be used to make a T.V. reportage. President Bonino, towards the close of the rally, submitted a tri-linguistic copy of the open letter to Rome embassy officials.

Related upcoming events include a meeting scheduled to be held with the Russian ambassador in Rome this week.
