On the 14-th of October (Sunday) the central television broadcasted a reportage about the manifistation for alternative civil service which had taken place on the 7-th of October and had been organized by the Radical Party as well. The reportage was named "The Transnational Radical party for alternative civil service" and the RP was presented in it as the main organizer of the action. This reportage was inserted in a weekly TV program "Serving to the Fatherland" - special program which covers the Soviet army problems. It included two interviews by the RP activists - Alexander Kalinin and Alexander Pronozin.
Alexander Pronozin said that he had objected to military service two years ago. He explaned that it was a political act of protest against the sistem which obliged everybody regardless religious, pacifist, moral or other reasons of conscience to serve in armed forces, because that sistem violated right to freedom of thought, conscience and personal convictions - the right which was granted by the most authoritative international charties and Universal Declaration of Right of Man as well.
Alexandr Kalinin said that if nothing is changed in the military draft sistem he expects evasion of military service take a mass scale. When he was asked about a method of distinguishing real conscientious objectors and those generaly disliking any compulsory servise Kalinin answered that the only real way was to establish special examination procedure under local Soviets control. He said that perhaps it was not the the best solution but it was the only possibility to introduce alternative service immediately.
