(ALMA ATA, KAZAKHSTAN. JANUARY 27) - This morning Zijahan Shajgeldinov, member of Transnational Radical Party and activist of International Society for Human Rights (ISHR), was arrested by the militia while collecting signatures on the street under Radical Party's petitions for right on conscientious objection, for United States of Europe and against death penalty.
After 6 hours of detainment in a militia station he was released. He got an order to be back in the district militia office tomorrow morning.
Zijahan Shajgeldinov is accused of the illegal demonstration and non-violent resistance to his arrest. The trial is appointed on Monday, January 28. The most viable sentence for the Radical activist can be from 10 till 15 days of imprisonment or money punishment.
It is a first arrest of a Radical activist during the petition campaign started in July 1990.
