(Kiev, March 16, 1992) - The founding conference of Kiev city organization of the "Nova Ukrajina" (New Ukraine) movement took part today in Cinema Hous in Ukrainian capitol.
This movement wich unites 6 political parties (Social Democratic Party, United Social Democratic Party, Green Party, Party of Ukrainian Democratic Revival, Constitutional Democratic Party and Liberal Democratic Party), Ukrainian Students' Union, trade union of cooperators, some commercial structures and other non-governmental organization, declared about its will to fight for the radical liberal economic reforms as about its first priority. "Nova Ukrajina" cud pretend on the role of a new social liberal force on the Ukrainian political podium, staying in opposition both to the current government of ex-Communist apparatchiks and to radical nationalist leaders of Rukh Movement and Ukrainian Republican Party. Among members of "Nova Ukrajina" are already 60 deputies of Ukrainian parliament and 5 ministers, including vice prime minister Mr Lanovoj, vice president of Ukrainian parliament Mr Grinev, two state's councillors - Igor Jukhnovskij and Aleksandr Emets.
What concerns Kiev branch of this new movement, it has now among its members more then 80 deputies of Kiev city council. During the founding conference three co-presidents, presidence and council of the Kiev city organization were elected. One of co-presidents became Andrej Koval - vice president of Ukrainian Social Democratic Party and member of Radical Party. Another Radical member - Vladimir Zolotorev, president of Constitutional Democratic Party - was elected into the presidence.
