UKRAINE: OPENED ASSEMBLY OF RADICAL MEMBERS FROM KIEV AND KIEV REGION. SPECIAL MOTION ON THE QUESTION OF THE LAST EVENTS IN MOLDAVIA AND GEORGIA, PROTESTING AGAINST AGGRESSIVE ACTIONS OF RUSSIAN ARMED FORCES ON THE TERRITORY OF THAT STATES, IS ADOPTED BY THE ASSEMBLY

(Kiev, 23 June, 1992) - The opened assembly of Radical Party's members from Kiev and Kiev region took place today in House Of Architects. About 60 Radicals took part at the meeting. Following questions were in the agenda of the reunion: the course of the petition campaign against death penalty in Kiev, results of the first session of the 36th Congress of the Radical Party, preparations to the 2nd conference of Radicals from CIS states, Baltic states and Georgia, the last events in Moldavia and Georgia.

Vladimir Ivanov (Radical member and co-president of Ukrainian Green Party) and Nikolaj Khramov informed the participants of the meeting about the course and results of the first session of the 36th RP's Congress in Rome. During the debates many speakers underlined the necessity to provide more essential presence of the Radical Party in Ukraine, the third-place country according number of Radicals (after Italy and Russia): in particularly, to extend the sphere of responsibility of the office in Kiev passing to it some functions of Moscow office, to begin finally the Ukrainian version of The New Party and Radical Letter.

Discussing the course of the petition campaign against death penalty, it was stated, that there are serious difficulties in the process of collecting signatures on the streets in Kiev. The reasons of such difficulties are both lack of militants who are able to work near the street table, and the public opinion, which is often even aggressive against proposal to abolish capital punishment. Radical activist Inna Gavriljuk appealed to each participant of the reunion to allot at least one hour per week for such voluntary activity.

Grigorij Pashkov, scientist and Radical member, proposed to organize the next Radical meeting in Kiev in the middle of July, just after the conference in Moscow, in order to undertake some practical steps of Kiev Radicals according the decisions taken during the conference with participation of RP's first secretary Sergio Stanzani. All the participants were agree with the necessity of such reunion.

In conclusion, the assembly discussed the dangerous situation in Moldavia and Georgia and adopted the motion prepared and proposed by Nikolaj Khramov. This motion is demanding the immediate stop of aggressive actions of Russian armed forces in Transnistrian rayons of Moldavia and region of Tskhinvali in Georgia, also the urgent withdrawal of Russian troops from that countries.

4 new members joined the Radical Party during the assembly.
